Top 10

So, it’s time to start thinking about advising for Spring Semester 2017. As you read this you may be thinking, “What?!? I just started my fall classes. It’s way too early to think about what I’m going to do in January!” I promise you, it is not too early…IT’S TIME! As you know, all students must see an academic advisor to be “released” for registration; however, advising is so much more than just planning classes.

Watch this short video for the TOP 10 REASONS TO SEE YOUR ADVISOR.

Yes, advising is required to register for classes, but your advisor will also talk with you about so much more. In advising sessions, you and your advisor will review your GPA in relation to your selected program. Some of the health programs have higher GPA requirements, so it’s important to make sure you are on track! You will work with your advisor to develop the best schedule based on what else you have going on in your life. Your advisor will make sure that the classes you are taking are required for your program. Did you know … if you sign up for classes that are not in your program, you will have to pay for those out-of-pocket? Did you know… financial aid cannot be used for classes not required for your program? If there are holds on your account, your advisor will be able to review those holds and connect you with the right college resources to clear them. You can also see your holds through your BanWeb account… which an advisor can show you how to use! These are just a few of the great things your advisor can do for you.

So, sign up to see an advisor… we are here for YOU! We want you to succeed!!!!

Orientation 101

Change is scary…College is scary…Life is scary! But have no fear, orientation is here!

Each semester we have multiple opportunities to help you orient to college life at Wiregrass through our New Student Orientation program. This program immerses you in the culture of Wiregrass. Leaders from across campus will visit with you about the resources their departments provide to students. Resources that are designed to help you be successful! You will also participate in small group training sessions to get hands-on experience with Blackboard Learn, campus email, BanWeb, and financial aid.
